Okay I'm just starting to research into this and was wondering if anyone has done any studying abroad? If Yes do you have any advice that would be helpful?

I am going to be studying abroad this coming year and I would suggest looking into a federal or state sponsered exchange program. I got into the International Program here in california which is really nice because i pay my normal tuition (about $3000) and then all i have to pay for in my exchange country is the cost of living. this is cutting the cost of me going abroad in half because i am going to be going to a school with tuition around $18,000.

I'm currently abroad in Japan. I have the same deal where I pay my school's tuition and this school's living expenses. Unfortunately my school's tuition is a TON more expensive than here, but my regular scholarships apply. Make sure you have all your classes you need ready/planned out. I found out two courses I needed for my major were only offered certain semesters so I had to change my study abroad to the spring instead of fall. DEFINITELY make sure you have time to get everything done. 🙂 Hope it helped. You can study abroad premed during the year, just time it right 😉

Fair to mention, OP is that you can also do some "studying abroad" for medical school as well. Just in case you're unable to get it in during your undergrad or have a huge interest in international medicine.

It's cool to think that the OPs of this thread are probably in their final years of residency.
