I'm going to be retaking the DAT in May... Could anyone direct me to some chem tutorials of some sort? I scored a 14 on that section 🙁 and would like to get it up to about a 20 or so. Thanks a bunch.

You have a lot of time until then. A 14 suggests that you have very little foundation in this topic. If you are extremely disciplined, you can get a very simple genchem book and go over the topics on the DAT and then do all the other supplements everyone is doing. That should guarantee you a score of at least 20. I've noticed that some people who have only done the basics without really understanding the material have average scores like an 18/19 a 20 if they're lucky. I'm not sure what you're shooting for, but as for me I need great scores.

Buy a textbook from college general chemistry!!! Very helpful!

Also, I never bought the DAT Destroyer (wished I had)... My friend just retook the DAT and got a 19 from a 14 just like you, so I guess it does work. Study hard! Best wishes!

Thanks for the replies... Really the only reason I scored so horrible on the chem section was because I sorta BS'd my way through that class, which I totally regret doing now... So I believe I could do well on the gchem section if I can discipline myself to really study and understand it. Any other suggestions on how to destroy the gchem part?

princeton review AP Chem & Destroyer is all you need. work as many problems as possible, makes notes of the interconnecting concepts (MP, BP, VP, OP etc.) and you will be set.

best of luck,
jb!

Get a SAT II Chemistry review book and practice all of the problems and tests....they go into more detail in those books than the real DAT. Then breeze thru Kaplans review notes and you should be set. I didnt do destroyer, so I dont know, but I used this method and got a 26 after a diagnostic of 14. Good luck.

Hey i would definitely reccomend for you to study the basic facts first like the main ideas and then once you feel comfortable to start practicing practice questions whether it be from topscore destroyer or achiever.
