I am currently midway through term 2 and am wondering exactly when do people usually study for Step I? Should I pull out First Aid and review topics from term 1/2 on weekends or should I just focus on my classes until term 4 starts/is over?

Thanks =)

The group that I studied with started around 5-7 months before our anticipated exam date. How to study depends on your school, confidence, and too many factors to tell you how to prepare.

You studied in a group?

I was thinking of starting earlier because it takes me longer to memorize certain things, but I am better with concepts and ideas. So I plan on needed extra time to make sure I don't lose the "easier" questions.

If it comes down to choosing between class or reviewing, choose class every time. Step 1 reviewing is exactly that, reviewing what you learned in class to jog your memory and better make connections. If you don't learn the material and concepts well enough the first time reviewing will not be of much help.

As others have mentioned, try to learn the material taught in class well and it will do you wonders when it comes time to review for Step 1. It doesn't hurt to go along with your course syllabus using FA as an extra tool but other than that I wouldn't suggest trying to put hardcore efforts to start reviewing for Step 1. You will get there soon enough.
