For those who got all of FOUR third molars pulled at one time,

How long did the pain and inconvience last??

I'm getting all of my wisdom teeth pulled (bottom two are significantly impacted), and was wondering,

HOW SOON I can get back onto my studying for the DAT??.... since I'm planning to take it in couple weeks. I was hoping to resume my studying after two full days of resting/recovering.

Unfortunately, getting them pulled after the test isn't my option (due to many reasons). It's now or will be next year...

Any ideas?

🙂 this happened to me 3 weeks before my exam. I got all 4 taken out. I was rdy to study 3 days after. It depends on ur surgeon 🙂, mine was amazin and the entire procedure with healing time were perfect with no complications. Good luck with the wisdom teeth and DAT

I haven't gotten any of my wisdom teeth yet.. but I intern with an oral surgeon ..and extractions are all i see 😵. The pain should be maximized within 48 hrs... afterward u should be getting better. They usually give u a big kit of everything u need to make u feel comfortable.. I'll say 3 days 🙂. Good luck with your DAT 🙂!!!!

I had my 4 wisdom teeth pulled in under 15 minutes by a general Dentist...my bro-in-law. The pain lasted until the next day, and then was fine. Just make sure to follow their instructions so you avoid getting dry socket. That is pAINFUL! Otherwise by day 3 you will be good to go I think

I've had teeth pulled on two separate occasions. When I was younger I had my upper canines pulled and just a few years ago I had both wisdom teeth on the right side of my mouth pulled.

It's really not that bad. Your mouth gets numbed, then your teeth are pulled and then you have gauze in your mouth for a few hours. After I had my wisdom teeth pulled in the morning I was playing basketball that night (I made sure to ask if it was OK) so it definitely doesn't cripple you.

i took vicodin
knocked out for couple hours
then went out to play footballl

it really wont affect you and youll be good in no time
goodluck

Make sure you go to either an oral surgeon or an experienced trusted general dentist, too. Like people said, it should only take 15 minutes to extract all 4 molars, but itll be longer and more painful with someone who doesnt get much practice. You can be eating burgers the minute you step out of the office, and should be completely functional within two days.
Just remember to keep things clean and really get into the gums when you brush. There will be bleeding and soreness. Rinse with a hot salt water right afterward and everything should be fine, and take the antibiotics. You can be "normal" in two days, but if you don't take care of yourself, it'll hurt for longer. Dry sockets are not cool.

Bahahaha I totally read the title of this thread wrong, I though it said "Studying for the DAT is like pulling teeth" I was gonna second that 😀
However your literaly pulling your teeth lol goodluck👍

I think it took longer than 15 minutes just for me to get numb from the Novocaine because my dentist had to give me a second helping of it because one just wasn't enough

Thank you for all of your input!!

Can't wait to get both of them--my wisdom teeth and DAT!!!

+1

Took some vicoden went to the mall. Slept that night and went to the motocross track the next day for 8 hours. Never felt a thing aftwards.😀

You can start by saving those wisdoms, it's a start to your jar collection when dental school rolls around. =D

When I had my wisdoms taken out I didn't have to take anything other than tylenol for the first day. After that I was as good as new but with a swollen face.

Some Percocet and was good to go!!! Pulled the whole "Im in pain, need my pills" but nope, just wanted to get high!! Didnt work, Im convinced my oral surgeon prescribed a placebo instead of the real thing!!
