Hi,

I have a quick question. What do everyone use to study for DAT? I mean, I don't really want to take a Kaplan course, do you guys recommand some review book?
I do have MCAT material from Kaplan, is that sufficient? What kind of material in natural sciences topics do MCAT and DAT differ?

Thank you!!! 🙂

I bought the Barron's book from amazon/barnesnoble and it was a good review. What I did was study their review and most of the material came back to me. What I didn't know I used my textbooks from school to expand on it. there are basic themes that I think the DAT has and it seems as though they focus on a few topics in each subject--although since its been almost a year i forget what those topics are but they become apparent in the practice tests. hope this helped.

I had both the Kaplan DAT review book and the MCAT review book. I used both and the MCAT book definately covers all the SCI you need but for the computational/perception part you will want to use the DAT Kaplan book. They are relatively cheap around ~$30-60 each. Try half.com they usually have good prices. I would also recommend getting a test on CDROM so you will know how the test on computer works. Besides that, don't kill yourself studying, learn the big concepts and move on.

Hope this helps

Save your money and study the Freddy King way - the poor man's way. The most valuable source of review is actually the sample DAT, inside of which is published an outline detailing the scope of the exam.

From this outline I found corresponding problems in chemistry texts from my school's library. Whatever biology topics are included - understand how these work (memorize).

There are only so many ways to ask a question. If you know the material, you'll do fine.

If you've got $30 burning a hole in your pocket, check out Topscore DAT. I think the questions were off, but it may be worth your money just to get a feel of taking the test on computer.
