Is it necessary to get big or medium robbins to do well on path? I was just planning on using class notes+goljan to study for the course and goljan+FA+uworld for step 1...would that be sufficient?

You should be fine with your plan. Robbins is a great book, but I only used it to read up on some topics in depth, but otherwise stuck to my notes and BRS Pathology.
Plus, I am sure that you can probaby check it out at your school's library should you need to.

Get medium robbins. You will gain a deeper understanding of the principles behind pathologies which in turn helps you remember distinct pathologic/clinical characteristics of diseases.

Plus, you can always skim over irrelevant sections/paragraphs.

Robbins + Goljan was the key to success in 2nd year to me. Robbins is a big time investment, but if you read it cover to cover, it will absolutely pay off.

My approach to 2nd year:
1) Read all of Robbins for a given organ system...completely.
2) Read Goljan RR for the same organ system.
3) Read Goljan again.
4) go through First Aid for that organ system, quickly
5) Study micro, pharm, and review physiology using what I learned from Robbins and Goljan as a solid foundation
6) Do Webpath and review Goljan the last couple of days before the test

This is just what worked for me. Other people did well just studying from lecture and Goljan.

did you use medium robbins or big robbins?

View path like you did anatomy...you have to know it well since boards stress it.

Robbins medium and robbins question book. I often did the q book first and then read as i went through Q's.

Then add Guljon's and board questions, usmle or kaplan.

Your path study advice sounds great, but since when does Step 1 stress anatomy?

Is webpath, the University of Utah website or something else? Thanks.

When you guys say "use Goljan," what exactly do you mean?

1. Rapid Review
2. His recorded lectures
3. Scanned notes of his

Don't have any of the above, just hear some old M2s talking about them.

The Robbins question book was really helpful as a learning tool, after reading Robbins+Goljan.
