HI all,

I am an M2 that will begin clinical rotations in January. My school recently switched to a new curriculum where we do 3 semesters of pre-clinical work followed by one year of clinical rotations. We then take Step1 following our year of rotations.

I did some brief google searches on the topic of studying for step 1 during clinical rotations, but not much information/general advice came up. For those of you that are in a similar curriculum, what advice do you have for those of us that take step1 following a year of rotations. When should we begin studying for the step1 exam? How should we balance step1 studying with studying for the rotation shelf exams?

Any advice would be great!

I go to a school where we also take step 1 following the year of rotations. I didn't study for step 1 during rotations at all (and neither did my classmates, as far as I know). As long as you have sufficient dedicated study time (6-8 weeks), you should be good. During clinical year, focus on doing well on your shelves.
