Hey guys. So, I put in about 4-6 hours every night. But I am so inefficient. Especially during the beginning of the block when you don't really feel the pressure (sometimes I feel like I have ADD because I am so freaking distracted) . Not until the week of exams (when fear sets in) can I really study long hours and focus. But at the same time, I feel like the more I am studying, the more confused I am becoming about the simplest concepts that I have mastered toward the beginning of the block. I am scoring ~10pts below the average in every class so I know I need to do something different. I just don't know what it is. The only thing that I do know is that I am not an auditory learner at all! I can't pay attention or retain much from class at all for the long term.

Also, the concepts/details that I had worked out toward the beginning of the block fails to stay with me during exam week when I am studying long hours.

I have never been good at just memorizing so perhaps I am paying the price for it now...

anyway, if you guys have any ideas about how to study and memorize more efficiently, I would appreciate it🙂

It sounds like you know where your study problem is. You say you are distracted. Just get rid of the distractions, yes, I know, easier said than done. It also sounds like you need the pressure of a dead line to make you study. Here are a few tips I use for myself, because I sometimes have the same study problems. Divide the material you need to learn, then set dead lines for those sub-sections. This way if you don't get one sub-section done you will feel you are behind and your mind will feel the need to complete it due to the dead line pressure. Also, it will help reduce some of the minor distractions we all encounter.

Also you could try pre-reading a review book or two to keep the big picture in you mind if your professors like to get lost in the weeds.
