What exactly does semester hours mean? For example, my school uses semesters and my english class is 3 credits.... is that 3 semester hours or 3*4 = 12 semester hours?

also, for the AACOMAS ggrade for each class should you write "A" or 4.0 ?

also, for a repeated course, what do you enter for the first time you took it...

for example the first time i took english 1 i got a D... I just enter that with no "classification", I only use "last repeated" for when I repeated it right...

god im starting to hate this, at least there is a SDN

If your school uses semesters, then semester hours = units.
So a 4-unit class is 4 semester hours.
I think a conversion has to be done if you go to a "quarter" school.

As far as your grades are concerned, use the convention that your school uses. If your transcript reads "A" then put in "A." I mean, this is all just going to be verified against your transcripts, so the easier you make it for them, the better.

You can go ahead and just put down the amount of credits for each course. So under semester hours just put down the amount of credits for each course ( I just repeated myself). As for grade, use whatever grading system your school uses. The reason AACOMAS has so many options is because many schools have different grading systems. So if you got an A in Chem put an A down. If a school uses 4.0 for a grade you would put that down etc. Hope this helps. Good luck with your application.

thanks everyone for the quick answers, this is why SDN is so great

I have some more dumb questions.

When it asks the time you went to a certain school, do you put just to the current month? or the month you planned on graduating? 😳

Also, I took my MCAT May 25th, and obviously I don't know my score as of now. However, on the application if you put when you took it, it requires a score. What do I do?

Alright I've got a stupid one,
for the 2001/2002 school year, would you enter fall 01 and spring 01 or fall 01 and Spring 02. I entered it in Fall 01 and Spring 02 but as i enter more terms, they are all out of order. Does that make sense? What did you all do?

You have to edit the year.
Fall 2001 and Spring 2002 are the same academic year, and must have the same year entered. However, I don't remember if that means it's 2001 or 2002. It's in the instructions as to how to enter them.

awesome, got it. Thanks for the help

Oh, to clarify, I got this from the AACOMAS instructions:

Year: Enter the academic year in which you took each course. The academic year is defined as beginning with the summer term and includes the following fall and spring terms. For example, a course taken during the spring of 1998 should be entered as 1997 because it is part of the 1997-1998 academic school year.

For the "Colleges Attended" do I put the academic year? Or the real year I attended.

At my first school I first took classes in June 2003 and stopped taking classes at the end of Spring 2006.

So for time of attendance do I put June 2003-May 2006?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, that is what you would write in. But when you enter your grades, the class(es) from May 06 would be entered as Spring 05. I know, it is a crazy system, but remember, everything will be verified before going off to schools.

Thanks, I think it just all clicked now. 😀

I have another question dealing with repeats.

I know when you take a "Class A" the first time you take it you put "Repeat 01" then the second time you put "Last Repeat 01"

If I'm retaking another class "Class B" right now, I still put "Repeat 01" for that class the first time and "Repeat/to be completed" for it right?

🙂
