OK, I know this is a stupid question, but I need to know the answer. Does the 4500 character limit count a word as a character, or is each letter counted as a character. I know spaces and commas, etc count as characters, just not sure about the rest, thanks guys

I believe that each leter, space and punctuation count as characters.

Basically each keystroke = 1 character. So plan on stroking your keys less than 4500 times.

After looking back at my personal statement and checking the character count it is definitley every letter, space and punctuation.

lol, sorry i'm a little immature

If you do a word count on microsoft word it will give you the character # w/ and w/o spaces

thanks for the replies guys, I just wanted to make sure. I was under the impression that we had 1 full page for our PS single spaced, I guess its more like 1/2 page single spaced, is that right?

no, 4500 characters is a little over a page

edited to add.... if you are using WORD, highlight your paper. under tools go to word count. It will give you what you need.
