Almost definitly could find this online somewhere but I'm feeling uber lazy here at the library this morning, so I figured Id field it to all of you.

And for those who want to be b1tches let me preface this with "No, Im not asking you to do my fscking homework, this is for an exam tomorrow in biochem"

Question #1 of the Day:

dG = -RTlnKeq

Say you have dG and T.. my lameness and lack of math in the past 5 yrs is showing here.. Obviously lnKeq = dG/(-RT) so how does the math work to get Keq?

Before anyone flames for my idiocy, RE: Subject

On a final note, anyone in any of the Philly schools spending quality time at Van Pelt at Upenn? I dont like being at temple terribly late and being an undergrad alumn I equivalent library privledges to a current student.

Phlly,

You must be having a brain fart. Use the e^x key on your calculator (which on my calculator is [2nd]key and then [ln]key. Library on a Sunday morning? You're a better man than me.

heya uss 😉

Thanks for the help. Yah i figured that was it but my #s still dont match what the prof gave as the answers for Problem-solving session #7 question numero dos.

Maybe i wrote them down wrong. What did you get for that set?

Yeah, in actuality I'm just a lamer man than you 😉 I was here until almost 2am last night in Rosengarten *shudder* It now has a new name, the Rosengarten/Goldstein center or something.

good luck for tomorrow man!

dorkystyle.

K eq=e^(dG/-RT)

Damn, I hate PChem. Enjoy.

Basement of Van Pelt at 2am? I envy you and wish I had that kind of discipline! Anyhoo, question 2:

a) Endergonic
b) G-1-P/G-6-P = 0.048
c) [G-6-P]=208mM
d) No
e) -0.62kcal
f) rxn is now spontaneous and moves toward products
g) I think that the equilibrium returns the ratio to what is is for b)

How long are you going to be down there, I was thinking of a change of study scenery.

Actually I dont know, I go for as long as I can and then take a 30-40 minute break.. Might move somewhere upstairs too, not as much distraction sometimes. I think i may be headed to the food court for lunch soon, focus is starting to wane a bit right now... But Ill certainly either be here or at the starbucks across the street the majority of the day... If you come down, post to this thread and let me know where in the library you are. If Im here Ill find you 🙂

Why are you learning about this in medical school??? I thought all of that physics stuff was ebhind us.

In response to Jalby...a) rates are part of biochemistry (and pharmcology) and b) physics appears in a variety of places in medicine...so physics will be seen again...

ussd, how did you come up with 208 mM for (c)? If the concentration of Glu-1-P is 0.1 mM, then 0.1/208 wouldn't equal 0.048. Shouldn't it be 2.08 mM instead?

Good luck tomorrow! And frankis, the Van Pelt library is definitely awesome - I should study there more often, but it's rather out of my way and I don't have a car.

Lara, still searching for the stupid e^x key on my calculator. 😛

Yeah it kinda sucks for me, but I am in center city which makes it one simple bus ride out, granted with SEPTA that can take about 30 minutes 😉

I spend so much time in the van pelt basement that I swear they're gonna award me my own chair (plaque and all).

Actually...lately I been studying in the Wharton building. It's niiiiice😀
