I am going to pco in august. I am from california and moving to pennsylvania!!! I have never seen snow!!! Stupid question is.....

Do you drive differently in snow? Do you need a 4-4 car or suv to drive in the snow? Can i take a regular car to philly during the winter??

Sorry for asking a stupid question...but never been exposed!

Thanks everyone!

A normal car will work fine, just drive slower and be careful, it will be slippery. ps. dont forget an ice scaper for your windshield 😉 haha

lol.

When you get here, take your car to a mall parking lot during a snowstorm and just practice driving around in a big wide open space.

I'd make fun of you....but you know its a dumb question, haha.

A 4x4 couldn't hurt. I live in Utah and have an AWD (all wheel drive) so I have 4WD when the car feels its slipping. They aren't requisite, but its sure nice to never have to dig yourself out (cross fingers). I wouldn't have a rear-wheel drive...can be a MESS in the snow.

Regardless of what car you have just do everything slower and with more distance (acceleration, turning, braking, following). This is a good idea to use even if you have 4WD.

ay! fellow californian! i've never seen actual snow. not unless you count the nasty kind up in the mtns! lol. congrats on PCO, hope to join you there next year!

Invest in good all-weather tires. There is not need to buy special snow tires, but when my family moved to Chicago area from California, we decided that the really good tires were the best investment. they are also good for the rainy, muddy roads that you will also encounter with four distinct seasons.
