Stupid question about shadowing

I finished my first year of school and will be shadowing again for a few weeks during the summer. Since I already have my loupes, would it be weird for me to have them with me while shadowing or will it seem pretentious? The dentist and assistant are going to be the ones in the mouth obviously, so I'm not going to be able to do much more than look over the dentist's shoulder. So I figured that the loupes may just make the 'leaning over' process a little easier, but I didn't want to seem presumptuous in front of the assistant or patients and definitely not in front of the dentist. I haven't specifically asked the dentist I'm shadowing about this yet, but any thoughts before I do? Thanks.

You are from Houston and go to UTDB? I'd shadow in their clinics rather than shadow at a private dentist.

Oh and unless youre a couple of feet away from the patient, you won't benefit from the loupes anyways.

I do really like their clinics but just for a few weeks during the summer I'm shadowing a family friend for our "summer focus". The timing just worked out better with the other things I needed to do this summer.

Agreed. You have to be within the loupe's specified "working distance", otherwise everything will be blurry.

right, that is unless of course, he allows you to take a look at work he is doing for instructional purpouses at which point tha loupes might come in handy

Just an update...having the loupes helped A LOT with the shadowing. If the dentist (right handed) worked on the left side, I stood over his shoulder, if he worked on the right side I stood over the assistant and was able to see a lot of detail.
