thanks livineasi...
do you enjoy being there? are the students generally happy? what's it like living there? how are you weekends? would I have time to drive to say the rutgers pool and swim some laps maybe twice a week?
im swaying towards ummdnj though... when i was there all the students seemed happy to be there...
The kids in the dorms seem trapped? What do you mean by that?So - they just put a YMCA inside of the UMDNJ medical bldg. (about 30 feet from the D school) - I've managed to get there at least 3 times a week even with our crazy schedule. As far as sports - I'm know there are clubs you can join that play in Central Park - but believe me, you are not going to have time to do too much playing!
The Newark area isn't very safe and I know the kids in the dorms definitely seem pretty trapped at the school. You can always live off campus in Jersey City or Hoboken - the commute via train or car is not too bad. Good luck with your decision!
Okay that makes sense. Thanks for the input. Yeah, they do have a shuttle that goes there IIRC.I don't go to umdnj.. but I do have a lot of friends that do go there and dorm...additionally I grew up in hoboken.
My friends at umdnj also complain they are "trapped" because it's hard to get out (going for a walk/run) when you're stressed... so most of the week they end up in their rooms. They do have cars so on the weekend they can leave to go home, to the city, etc. Someone mentioned the PATH train, I've heard umdnj offers a shuttle to the path. From newark penn station (path station) to hoboken is 20 minutes and then to the city 25-ish.
