subject test recommended

It's a tough call. I would look at the percentile rank and if it's not above the 70th percentile I would probably avoid sending the scores to schools that don't require them. That's purely a personal feeling, though, and is quite arbitrary.

You are probably right in thinking that the scores aren't going to hurt your application at all. I doubt they will help you either, though, so it's pretty much a toss up.

I agree completely... if they don't require it, don't send it. Your scores are good, but not fabulous, and they may take away from your general GRE scores and GPA's which you scored much better on.

Just out of curiosity, what is considered a good score for the subject test?

Its pretty subjective, but I'd say anything over 700 is good (maybe a bit lower...670 or so is certainly "pretty good").

All depends where you're applying though. At Penn, 700 is awful. At other schools, its godly.

I think I've underestimated this test. This is a pretty hard test. I am struggling getting close to my goal of 700 on my practice tests. Only 2 weeks to go...yipes.
