Hello all,

I hope that all of you have gotten off to a great start filling out your applications.

I would like to share something for all of you to think about moving forward with the application process - everything on here and the internet is subjective. No one, including myself, knows exactly how a school will feel about something regarding your application. Most of you are coming from a strong science background or now actively pursuing a career based on science. Science is tested and proven. ADEA posts demographic and statistic information but keep in mind that they do not provide ALL of the information. That information should be used a guide but not as an end-all be-all.

Having applied successfully and speaking with admissions staff I have certain ideas as to what made me successful and I would be happy to share those with you all. Nevertheless, if you are genuinely confused or unsure about something, pick up the phone and call the school directly! That is typically advised against on here but ultimately it is only the admission committee's opinion that matters. Regardless of a member's status on SDN, if they are not directly involved in the admissions process at the school that you are applying to, they are operating purely off of suggestion or anecdotal evidence that either worked for them or someone that they know.

Also, there has to yet to be a formula that accurately predicts someone's success at getting into a school or not. Believe it or not, statistics are not everything. If you want to be a dentist, then you will be a dentist. You, and only you, are the one that either makes that happen or not. You all have a shot to gain acceptance into dental school and I wish nothing but the best.

You can do it!
