I'm 24 year' old. I submitted a manuscript to Gastroenterology last month. Unfortunately, it was rejected after 15 days, dissapointing me much. Thereafter, I submitted the manuscript to Hepatology as soon as possible. By now, 18 days passed and it has'nt been rejected. The current status of the manuscript was "assigning or selecting reviewers". How much possibility was that the manuscript would be accepted. I am realy very worried.
Would someone give me some advice?
Thanks a lot.

just wondering why you mentioned your age...it shouldn't discriminate you from a particular journal or anything!

In my experience a submitted article is first reviewed for appropriateness in a particular journal, then if deemed so it is then passed on for further review. It is possible that while Gastroenterology didn't take it that the other journal might. That it is in "assigning or selecting reviewers" mode seems hopeful. Have patience, these things can take a while. Good luck.

Correct. Many journals use a two-tiered review system. Check their web site for author information that explains their review process and estimates on how long it usually takes.

It's not uncommon for the entire process to take 90 days. And it's not uncommon to get rejected, revise your paper based on reviewer comments, and then get accepted.

Thanks for your advice. I emailed to the editor of my manuscript today, and I think he will response to soon. The journals I submitted to were all top journals, so I think there're rare possibility of that acceptence of the manuscript. If it were rejected, I would not be too dissapointed and will go on the submition.
Thanks.
