I really would like to submit my application on sept 1st to ensure my USMLE transcript is recieved before step II is reported, but my personal statment is not yet complete. Is it possible to submit the application and apply to programs and then upload personal statements and LORs at a later date?
Thanks

there is no way you can submit Personal statement at a later date, no
but you can submit without lors , yes

are you saying ERAS will not let me do this?

not to sure, but I think eras will let you apply without PS, but keep in mind once you hit that magical submit button, you cant go back and add or edit your PS

Not sure where you get your info, doc20. Per myERAS instruction booklet:

Changes to Applications, Documents and Document Assignments
  • At any time, you may change your LoR and personal statement assignments.
  • You may de-assign a personal statement from a program and assign a new personal statement.
  • You may de-assign LoRs from a program and assign new ones, when necessary.
  • Changes to document assignments for programs that have been previously applied to are submitted immediately.
Note: If a program has already downloaded a document that you de-assign, they may have already printed a hard copy. Do not assume they will not be able to reference it in the future.

Why would you apply without a PS anyway? Do you really think programs are going to invite you to interview without one?

Speaking from an IMG perspective I've heard it's good to have it in early b/c a lot of community hospitals give out interviews on a first come - first serve basis. I submitted with only one LOR scanned and uploaded - all other documents pending. Hope it doesn't hurt too much to have the programs review the file again and again as docs trickle in!

Good luck to everyone!

sorry my mistake, I was thinking CAF oops, i am pretty sure you cant change CAF
