Hey guys,

There were other threads with similar topics, but they were all over three years old so I thought I'd start a new one. My question is, should I submit a couple of my secondary applications before my second MCAT score comes back? My first MCAT score was a 29, and I retook because I felt I could do better. However, I just was unsure whether there would be any benefit/risk to sending in the secondaries early, or if I should just wait until August 17. For example, I am an Oklahoma resident, so I know I will be applying to OU regardless of what my second score is. Should I go ahead and submit it now, or wait?

Any feedback is appreciated.

If schools you're applying don't have MCAT cut offs, go ahead and submit and indicate on you app that you retook and will be sending second score soon.

yeah might as well just submit it now. That way the day your MCAT comes in, it will be complete and ready to be reviewed, saving you a few days if you wait until then to submit it.

I am complete and under review at 7 schools already and my 2nd MCAT score comes out Tuesday.

Also, many schools have an MCAT cutoff of 24 because 8 is the lowest they accept in each category (8 x 3 = 24), so that number just makes good sense as a cutoff, even though it's sounds super low. I had a VR 10, BS 8, PS 8 the first time and I didn't get weeded out of secondaries, and most of the schools I applied to screen. However, my ECs are very high level and my upward trend is strong, so those may have something to do with it also.

Also, I would wait to figure out the number of reach schools you are looking at, just for monetary savings. For instance, I have about 10 schools on my "maybe" list, and depending on what my score is on Tuesday, I may or may not invest more money into applying to those places.
