Hey everyone,

I understand that it's best to submit your application ASAP, but I was wondering if there are any components to the application that I can leave blank, and submit later on?

My school doesn't provide final marks until about Late May...can I still submit my application and then submit my grades later? How about for the DAT..can i submit my DAT marks after I submit my application? Reference Letters - do I have to wait til I have them in my hand before I submit?

thanks for the help!

I believe AADSAS opens on June 1 this year...so you should be okay with time. Its not necessary to submit the app the day it opens. Most would peg "early" at up to 6-8 weeks after it opens.

LORs are dependent on how fast your writer can submit them, and they are ind pendant of your own app. It would be wise to make sure you give your writers ample time, since this tends to slow down many applications.

yes, you can do parts of application and submit them but they will not considered 'complete' until you submit all other required materials

you can therefore fill out AADSAS application online first when it opens up (since it takes some time to do Personal Statement and etc.) and then submit your transcript whenever your school has final scores and submit DAT and LORs.

Dental Schools will receive your application without DAT (although it is not still considered complete) and some schools actually do give out interviews even before seeing DAT score although very rarely.

The thing that you want to make sure is to submit your transcript ASAP because it takes about 2-4 weeks for AADSAS to verify and calculate your GPA and it is the longest time consuming process.

So here is simple answer.
Submit AADSAS online application and submit everything else ASAP but they do not have to happen all at once

hope this helps

You can submit your grades later, but at that point there is no point in hitting "submit" before your transcripts reach AADSAS. The wait after submitting is for transcript verification, so if they have nothing to verify, then they'll just wait until they do. Submit as early as you can get your transcripts in, there is no benefit to submitting before that. You can submit before your LOR are received, but if your LOR don't get there until your transcripts are verified then that will hold up your application (they will still send out everything to the schools except LOR, but the schools will sit on that information until your file is complete generally).

The only benefit to submitting before everything is complete in your file is that AADSAS can get started on verifying your transcripts so when the last thing is received everything else is finished.

Can I start sending my transcripts to AADSAS now? Or do I have to wait until June 1st to send them out?

Do we send just one transcript to AADSAS, or do we send multiple transcripts to AADSAS so that they can send them to each of our schools?

Specifically, if I apply to 10 schools through AADSAS, do I have to provide 10 transcripts or just one for AADSAS? Thank you!!!

1. You only need to send one, most schools won't accept your transcript if you send it to them. This is because dental schools typically require that your transcript to be verified with AADSAS first, and AADSAS will generate their own version of your GPA accordingly for schools to see. This processes was actually quite annoying because it took them 3-4 weeks to verify my GPA from my transcript.

2. To answer your other question, you can't send your transcript until the AADSAS application opens. You will first need a "AADSAS ID" that is generated for you once you sign up for the application. There is a "Transcript Matching Form" that you can then print out from your application which has your AADSAS ID on it. You need to sign and send this form WITH (at the same time as) your transcript to the AADSAS office so that they can match your transcript with your application ID.

Hope this helps!

That helps so much!! So, when people say.."make sure you hit submit by June 1st" there REALLY is no way to do this because you can't even get that number until June 1st. June 1st is the absolute earliest that you can contact your schools to send out the transcripts? So no one really hits submit until AADSAS gets your transcripts? Which takes about 4 wks?

Good question! Could anyone help answer?

BTW, why did ADDSAS delay the cycle from mid-may to June this time?

I'm pretty sure it still opens up May 15 and the earliest you can submit is June 1. I haven't seen anything saying it won't be open until June 1...

If somebody knows otherwise, please share a source

No, you can submit before they get your transcript because then yours will be earlier in line to be verified once the transcripts start pouring in. It is definitely possible to hit 'submit' the first day if you are really motivated to do so and are 100% sure about all your content (I submitted around 10 days after the cycle opened because I kept going back and checking over my PS and how I entered my ECs, but if you are sure about all that stuff you can hit submit the same day). Another advantage to early submission is that not many people do it so the grades verifying process doesn't take as long as it does later in the cycle when there are more applications being sorted through (I hit submit May 30 and everything was mailed out 1 month later, it takes longer in sept, oct etc)

Basically hit submit as early as you can. 👍

I think anatty answered your question in her reply.

I just want to mention one thing about the application process, you seem to be confused about how your application is sent out. You rarely send anything you the schools you want to apply to other than supplemental application, application fee, and possibly a 2x2 photo.

...and this is the part that really annoyed (and worried) me about the application process. If you didn't already know, you don't contact your schools about applying to their school. Instead, you list the schools that you want to apply to on the AADSAS application and they will send out your information to all the schools that you have listed.

This part was worrying for me because I got constantly paranoid about whether or not they've sent out my application information yet. So much of the "sending" process is placed in the hands of others. You have to depend on them to verify your GPA/Transcript, verify letters of recommendation, and actually sending out the application

is this true? i had a predent ask me this and i wasn't exactly sure. Can you login and start your application on may 15th, or is it closed until june1st?

In previous cycles it opened May 15th (and yes you can submit the day it opens, it happens). This cycle they have moved the day it opens to June 1st (so you can only start your app at that time, just erase the magical May 15th date out of your head to eliminate confusion).

nevermind...i'm confused i guess we will just have to wait and see...
