Submitting Before MCAT Score

If I submit my AMCAS now, will they wait to send it to schools until my MCAT scores are in?

My situation is this. I just took the MCAT again because the last time I did not do well. I am pretty confident I did well this time. I want to submit soon, but I don't want the schools to see my previous MCAT score and immediately disregard me.

So does AAMC wait to verify the AMCAS until all MCAT scores or in? Or will I just try and have to time it well?

Thanks.

I suggest submitting immediately. AAMC does not wait to verify your application until the scores are in, but it will take you 4-6 weeks to get verified which is a lot of time wasted waiting to get your scores back. Besides by the time you get verified you will have your scores back, and as soon as you are verified you can re-submit your application with the MCAT score on it and it will be instantly available to all your med schools. Also, even if you were to get verified before getting your scores back, med schools won't consider your application until they have all your MCAT scores (assuming you entered on your application that you just re-took the MCAT). They will see that you just re-took the test and wait to send your application to the adcom until they get your most recent scores. Please, please for your sake just submit. You're hurting yourself and your chances of getting accepted (due to rolling admissions) by sitting on your app. Take care!

Submit, but only list one school for now. After the score comes back, add the rest of your schools so they'll see both scores the first time they look. After verificiation, it only takes one business day for added schools to receive the entire application.

this is good advice even if you were waiting on your first score- because there's no point in deciding where to apply when you don't know how you did yet. i submitted my amcas the day after i took the MCAT, but only listed four schools. (I should have listed only one but the idea is the same.) it's good that i waited because my score was much different than i was expecting. my list of schools changed a lot. but it worked out perfectly, i think i was verified the day after i got them, so i just submitted my new list. easy.

I am not sure what you mean by this. You can add schools after AMCAS has been certified? Why would I not just submit with all the schools listed?

This is what I would do too.

The benefit is that schools won't just see your bad MCAT and automatically reject you. If you improve, you want them to see that score the first time they look at you.
