submitting my application now- any advice?

Hello friends,
I am a Canadian student applying this upcoming cycle to NYU Case and Mercy.

Please take a look at my stats:
cumulative GPA: 3.5 science GPA: 3.2
Canadian DAT: ST 18, AA 19, PA 20

I have a good amount of shadowing hours and some strong LORs, but my GPA is not that strong and so are my DAT scores.
I will be retaking my DAT upcoming Nov 2016(Canadian DAT) which I think will be late.

Would it be worth a shot if I submit my application with my current stats?
I know that there is something called 'academic update period', and I am hoping to update my app with better DAT scores after my DAT (end of Nov). If the universities consider my current stats as incompetent then see my updated (hopefully better) DAT scores later, would they reconsider my application and give out interviews?


I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people here who can make my life easier, so please help me out!
Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

I'd consider taking the American DAT.
Canadian DAT scores will take about 2 months to be released + it takes about 6 weeks for scores to be sent to each school. You're looking at about mid March when schools will see your DAT scores. That might be too late to use the Academic Update angle.

Take the American DAT. The earliest you'll see the cDAT scores are in early December + you'll need another 4 - 6 weeks for the schools to receive and verify them.

Also, apply to more schools. Those three aren't enough IMO.

Thanks guys. I am planning to take the American DAT soon. One more question, Should I submit my app without my current DAT stats ? Or should I submit with the stats I have and use the academic update ? (I think the earliest I can take American DAT will be in early September)

If you already have plans to take the American DAT, I would suggest for you to submit your app now so that you can get your app verified. I submitted my app a whole month before I took my DAT 2 days ago so now I'm just waiting for the scores to be added to my app.

Yeah there's no option to input your scores for the American DAT, only for the Canadian so you should input your scores for that. 😀
