So, I decided to take MCAT on 5/30 after I confirmed with my adviser that May is still early since most primaries get verified in July.

I read many posts here saying that I have to add ONE school to my primary app before mcat scores get released to get verified. Why not add ALL of my schools when I do that instead?
Is this because you might get a bad score on your mcat?

Yep, pretty much. Or you might do really well and want to apply to more "top" schools than you had planned on originally. It's basically a way of not wasting money.

You basically want to submit early so you don't have to do with ridiculously long processing times. The sooner you submit the less time you spend waiting for AMCAS to verify your application. Make sure you get your transcripts sent to AMCAS early as well.

When should I send my transcript?
Do I have to do it before June 1st?

Do it right when AMCAS opens... you print out a "transcript request form" and give it to the registrar at your school(s). It'll probably take a couple of weeks before AMCAS receives it (so before you can actually submit).

Hm..

So my grades for this semester wont be included?

My school ends in mid-May.. So I guess in June...

Hm...
My science gpa is currently 3.78 and cGPA is 3.86.

I wanted to raise my science gpa to 3.8+ by taking current classes...
But I guess I have to send my transcript without spring semester grades if I want to be early..?

I don't think a 3.78 will be viewed any different than a 3.8. With a solid MCAT score that GPA won't hold you back anywhere.

My school ended at around the same time. They gave students the option to either send the transcript immediately or wait until spring grades were posted before sending students' transcripts anywhere (in this case, to AMCAS). I would see if that is an option. Although, I don't think it will make much of a difference in your case since your s/cGPAs are already solid.

I waited until the day grades were due to submit my transcript request form, and spoke with someone from the registrar's office about ensuring spring grades were included. Waiting this short period of time will not be a big deal considering the length of time it takes to be verified.

I'd wait until this semester's grades are out, just to have a more complete file. Some schools will even request it to ensure there aren't any red flags before considering you. Submitting 6/1 versus 6/15 isn't really that huge of a processing difference. Look back at the 2012-2013 AMCAS verification thread to see how long it took for people to receive notice of verification based on their submission times.

As for the MCAT and adding schools, since you're so early, I'd just include the non-top schools to which you're sure you'd like to apply and add more according to your score once it's returned.

Hope this helps. GL

Is using this form mandatory? Most schools have automated online transcript request systems nowadays. 😕

No. It just has instructions on how to submit.

The most important thing about that form is to bring their attention to using your AMCAS number to facilitate pairing your transcript to your file once it reaches the AMCAS folks. While not required, I ensured each school knew to include that number in their correspondence. But even if you've already requested without that, they'll figure it out eventually, and much faster if it's in June as opposed to August.
