suddenly in love
Started by masse002
What happens if you were focused on medical school for four years of your college and suddenly fall in love with dental schools in your senior year?
Think over the reason for why you want to go to dental school. If they are legit, apply to dental school. The pre-reqs are pretty much the same. Just have to take the DAT.
I agree with Yellow. Just make sure it's not a, "crush" and it's really love you have. Shadowing multiple dentists is a must (if you haven't done this already).

To be honest with you my MAIN reason is the internship i am doing at Operation Smile. What they stand for is beyond imaginable and i really want to be a part of it in the future as the main volunteers are general dentists and maxilofacial surgeons. And my minor reasons would be less time in school, less cost, doing a lot better in the DAT practice exams than the MCAT, less board exams, job and financial stability.

Seems that you have really thought it through. I guess it's not, "puppy love" after all. Welcome to dentistry!
Hmmm... I personally don't consider those reasons to be minor. Those are very legitimate (and major) concerns and why people sometimes choose dent over med. Anyways, welcome aboard!

"crushes" always screw you over, make sure dentistry is what you wanted. Shadow and see what it is really like. The more i shadow, the more i like about the profession!

Throwing another "welcome to the dark side" in there... and lucky you, you're probably done with all your prerequisites for dental school too! 🙂
Umm...I still don't see, "Status: Pre-Dental" by your name?!?!
I guess you haven't fully fallen to the dark side yet. There is still some good in you, I can sense it!

Thanx for the tips and comments guys, i really feel welcomed here

i was looking at some schools cost and it was no near to the 200 grand loan i was gonna soak my self in.i'm not sure about the less cost part. In fact, dental school is much more expensive than med school. Still.. never let cost be the reason why you choose dental/medical
hahahaWelcome to the Dark Side young apprentice.

A general dentist I have been shadowing lately spent his first 3 years in medical school. He didn't like all the death and sickness involved in medicine so he he switched to dental. He said it was the best decision he ever made. Now, 25 years later he has an amazing practice! Welcome aboard my brother!!

Thanks for the props...but did you really stand up and clap? I mean, did you really get up out of your chair? Kinda like those guys that say, "LOL" all the time but never actually laughed out loud? Know what I mean?
And of course, I'm only being a smarta$s....it's what I do...😀
you become like me!

Just as predents suggests the time before several physical dents on a physical surface will occur? 😀
I hope it is not hail on a car!

you have your relationship with medicine, because it's what you're familiar with. But you bang dentistry on the side.
