Hey guys,

I have around a month left until step. I have just finished Uworld. It was my 2nd time going through uworld but not really. Not really because i had been using uworld thru out 2nd year of med school. I had done around 60% of it without really reviewing FA and i barely annotated uworld into my fa. So never really learned anything through my 1st pass. So during my 2nd pass of uworld, i annotated everything into fa, it felt more like my 1st time and i remembered may be 1 question per block.

So now i have 700 questions incorrect/marked. Should i just review those or should i get a new subscription?

I was leaning towards just renewing it and try to go through all of those 700 questions. If i do 1 block a day then i can finish those 700 question in 15 days or so and it works out great because i can use rest of the time for content review. Thoughts?

Gracias!!

If it were my choice, I would do the 700 incorrects first. Then I would go back through the entire QBank again. I say that only because, even if you go through the 700 incorrects first, you are guaranteed not to get all of them right if you were to go back through the entire QBank again after that. This ensures that you develop rapid recall for the ones you already know and repeat the ones you were never 100% sure of. However, in the final month, I would shoot for ~300 Qs/day, which would make the process more feasible than by just doing a block per day. One-month-out is too late to annotate in my opinion. Make sure you read assiduously and just repeat any uncertain info to yourself aloud and repeatedly. Annotate scarcely (i.e. only info that you find extremely important, but just read, rather than annotate, supporting details that you otherwise would have annotated months earlier). I would get through all of this at lightning pace because I believe the final two weeks should be for strict memorization of your FA + blasting through the NBMEs if you still haven't done those (this is what Pollux did).

Definitely renew, but if its your 3rd pass now...you need to bump it up to 2-3 blocks a day minimum.

Even though it will be my 3rd pass technically speaking, it's more like 2nd pass because 1st pass was spread out when I didn't know anything.

Why 2-3 blocks a day? Why not just block or 2 a day and still be done with incorrects in couple of weeks?

Uworld expires in 2 days. So may be go go through those 700 qs in next 2 days and "save" the ones that I get incorrect again in a power point. And get a brand new subscription for 1 month? I also have 2007 bootlegged screen shots. May be do those rather than getting a brand new subscription?

You're nuts. I did u world throughout M2, but read all the explainations and wrote down the reason I got the question wrong and it's explaination. I started doing 10 questions/day and ended the q bank in April doing 50 questions/day. I did the questions after each system. I ended up with a cum of 65%. By the time I did the new questions that came out and about half my incorrects I had a cum of 68%. I did kaplan q bank, kaplan high yield lectures, the UWSAs, kaplan sim exams and the free 150 questions by the NBME. I earned a 252. Don't over study, make time each day to relax. Pholston is wound so tight he ****s diamonds. Keep up the hard work. You will do well.

Because if you bump it to up to 2-3 blocks a day it still gives you time to go over all the bootleg NBMEs...plus legit ones. Which you also should do on top of Uworld.

I'm not saying be a crazy overachiever like many of the SDNers here. It took me like a month and a half to do Uworld at 1 block a day plus whatever time to go off on tangents studying from review books. And maybe doing an NBME every 2 weeks. I kept trying to do two blocks but I was just too exhausted from one. But I did those blocks so painstakingly slow that when I see the question again for at least 80% of them I don't need to read the entire explanation again. I just finished redoing all my incorrects, so now I'm on pass 2 and I also reset my Kaplan Qbank, in case I want to redo the high yield questions there. But time is running out for me and I still need to get NBME 13 under my belt, and the 2nd UWSA. For me to do an NBME and then go over it (yes all 200 questions) can take up an entire day, maybe even two days....but I have started getting faster going thru them since a lot of the questions repeat the same concepts from NBME to NBME.

Can't tell you how to study, but for me doing questions gives me a return on my investment 100X more than sitting down and reading First Aid as if it were interesting. That's why I advocate to do as many questions as you can with the time you have.
