Hey everyone! I have been a member of this forum for awhile but have only posted in the post-bac section previously, so I'll give a brief recap of my history before I ask my questions. I am a mid-20s student in UMD SIE's program with a undergraduate degree in psychology and criminology. My GPA took a pretty heavy dip my sophomore/junior year and only started recovering after I began my second degree. Over the past year, I received a 4.0 and 3.8, respectively (I got 1 B in a entry-level sociology class for attendance... my fault and still kicking myself over it). In the past, I only took Geology, Geography, andAlgebra my freshmen and sophomore years and got B's and C's in them. However, I have been getting A's in all my recent science classes. I am hoping to continue on this trend of straight A's with the rest of my science classes. My current GPA is a 3.1. My science GPA is 3.35, but I have only taken 2 of my classes for my post-bacc program so far. My program is kind of loose in that there is not a planned set of classes, but rather a suggested guideline, so I'm just going to go off the bare minimum requirements most medical schools require for my remaining credits, which would be about 7 more classes or 28 credits. However, just due to the sheer number of classes I have already taken, I would have to take over 140 credits to even get a 3.5. I know I need to do amazing on the MCAT to even have a chance for medical schools, but this is where my questions come in...

I have been a scribe for the past year in an ED and currently in a trauma center. I have some shadowing experience, but with scribing, I do not know if it is really necessary to continue to shadow as I also have another job and don't want to burn myself out. I do know I need to get some research experience. I was wondering ANY and ALL advice people can please give me to make my application stand out, despite my low GPA! Also any personal stories or situations that people have encountered would be great. I also wanted some input if people think my goal is achievable. It won't really change my mind on the course I'm planning to take, but I was just looking for some feedback here, as if have gotten a decent amount of negative feedback from an advisor. Thanks in advance and sorry for the mini-essay!!!

Too lazy to do the math and reverse engineer your gpa, so what is your current cGPA and sGPA? Over how many credits? How many more to complete your curriculum if you weren’t taking extra classes just to try to raise it (like the 140 more you mentioned)?

Oops, I'll include that in my original post! My current GPA is a 3.1. My science GPA is 3.35, but I have only taken 2 of my classes for my post-bacc program so far. Also, that being said, I took a medical with-drawl from school my sophomore year. I was taking chemistry at the time. My advisor said it would not show up on a transcript as it was for medical reasons, but the advice I have gotten from this advisor has thus far been very wishy-washy, so I am not sure if it will show up as well. I made the unfortunate decision between my two majors to jump right into chemistry and calculus again, even though I had previously placed into them from my SAT and had not taken any similar classes for years, so I decided to with-drawl again and retake some refresher courses. These W's WILL show up on my transcripts, but I am unsure if two or one will actually show up.
