hello everyone. i was wondering if i can get some help from anyone...i just recently graduated from pharmacy school and since i am in international stduent...its really hard for me to find jobs out there. i cant work for a chain or hospital. so i was thinking if you go to graduate school and do more skooling. anyone know what graduate programs pharmacists can go into? or anything suggestions what i can do ?

get a PhD in pharmacology or something..then maybe you can get a teaching job afterwards... or meanwhile, you can marry an American citizen.

Why cant you work for a chain or hospital? Pharmacists get into pharmacology, med chem, pharmaceutics and pharmacoeconomic graduate programs. That is going to mean atleast 4-5 more years of school. Also I hope the "skooling", "stduent" and "anything suggestions" were just typos otherwise writing a dissertation might be a little difficult. Best option as Z said - find a US citizen and get married.

foreigners cant work in the US unless employer sponsors them and help obtain work visa on their behalf. why would hospitals and chains go through all that trouble in hiring a foreigner when pharmacists are dime a dozen?

One of my good friends who graduated w/ me is being sponsored (has been for the past 3+ years) by CVS in TN.

Dang. My school required every student to be a citizen or a permanent resident before getting accepted. I guess things have changed.

Try to find a company to sponsor you...I know an international who was able to find a job to sponsor him this summer....you could do a phD in pharmacokinetics (3 to 4 yrs) and jobs in PK are not too hard to find especially if u went to a decent school and the salary is slightly higher than a pharmacist salary. I know an intl who just got hired by a big pharmaceutical company and is making 120k+....or u could get a MBA if you have any interest in management...Good luck!!! I know what u feel, i am intl student too...

Salary is not slightly higher, it is slightly (or more than slightly) lower than pharmacists. Check out the following link. Enter the company of your choice - Merck, Pfizer, BMS, etc etc and try finding a scientist getting paid 100k+

I know about the work visa thing. I wasnt aware they had stopped sponsoring them completely. I just thought it had gotten a little tougher to get one.
