I don't know... a school interview wearing a suit sounds too formal to me. Is there any other alternative that you would suggest? I don't wanna look too casual but I also don't wanna look too formal. I was thinking of wearing shirt, tie and a sweater. Does that formal enough for school interview? I need 2nd opinion here.

I would wear a suit if I were you. From the interviews I've been to, all of the guys were wearing suits. Pharmacy school interview is just like job interviews. You would want to give the best first impression to your interviewers.

Everyone at these interviews are in suits. Most interviews ask for business attire which = suit.

Some people wear that, others wear a sportcoat and slacks. I dont know if these people got in or not.

This is one of those occations where making a fashion statement is not to your advantage. Wear a suit, you are supposed to be formal. You can get a reasonable one for less than $100. May I suggest a dark grey with a blue or red shirt underneath?

Just wear the suit. Or at least nice slacks and shirt and tie. I've been to three interviews and ALL the men were wearing suits. I think maybe a few at UNC had shirt and tie, no jacket.

Well heres a 5th opinion (after the 4 other posters). you'll stick out like a sore thumb if you dont wear a suit. People usually dress as if theyre going to a funeral (ie very conservative)when going to these interviews. So unless your idea of 'formal' is sashay-ing in with a top-hat and 'tails'...i'd go the formal route. 👍

That wasn't nice of me. I am sure they just didn't know what was considered appropriate as they were very young. Maybe they were not aware they were going to be interviewed? 😕

You are going to an interview at a professional school so hopefully you can attend a professional school so that you can be a professional in your field as a doctor of pharmacy.

I think it is important that one looks like a professional if they want to be a professional.

After one gets in then one can turn back into a student!

Go to JCPenny's or Men's Warehouse. I found two that I liked, one was about $150-200 and the other was $350. I bought the $350 one 😳 . "You'll like the way you look."

I remember at my USC interview (Nov.), there was this dude in one of those Gap/Banana Republic shirts, some dockers, and brown shoes. I'm pretty sure he was interviewing (maybe not?), but I kept thinking of that Southwest airlines commercial, "wanna get away?" Since everyone else was in a nice business suit + black shoes. I bet he felt a little underdressed. So don't be that guy, just wear a suit. But who knows, the guy could have gotten in, and maybe hes on this forum?? Im curious to know.

I personally bought a new suit and tie for the interview.

Not looking like the ******* that wasn't wearing a suit at the interview = priceless

Seriously, it is a professional school interview, so why not dress professional.

If you're not going to go with a suit, don't settle for something weak like a sweater vest. An alternative I've seriously considered is painting my face and body in the school's colors with the words "GO U_!" painted across my chest. This alternative guarantees that you will be remembered. Unfortunately, some conservative admissions folks might accuse you of not taking the interview seriously.

I'm wearing a suit. I would rather go to the interview knowing that I look as good as I can so I can focus on the interview and not on any deficiencies in my appearance.
Would I want to wear a suit and tie everyday? No! If I have to wear ties in pharmacy school, I'm going with loud clip-ons. Maybe loud, clip-on bow-ties.

lol!!! I wore some slacks and a nice button down shirt and heels for my interview. It was just from New York & Co. = NOT a suit and I got accepted. If you can look very put-together and professional, then I'd say go with what you feel is appropiate. Most men were wearing suits but some weren't wearing jackets (but is IS the south and freaking hot down here). The ladies wore either suits or nice outfits like the one I described.

Definitely wear the suit unless you are extremely confident about your academic and extracurriccular record. During my 2 interviews, I saw some of the guys in a shirt and tie but 95%+ wore suits.

I don't think HAVE to wear a suit to look professional. I has nice slacks, shirt and a tie. But i had a wool black jacket on. I live up in the north and wearing a jacket on top of a suit is very uncomfortable. Just get a nice dark jacket and it works just fine. Just keep it on until you actually have to go for a interview.
At the interviews i been to, which are all up north, every guy had the samething as me. No suits, but instead black wool jackets. I guess it all depends on which school and which geographic area you are attending.

Wear a suit. If you are lucky you can go to goodwill and get a nice one for $50, I know that's what they sold a lot of my old (yet still acceptable style-wise) for. 😀

If you don't like ties, wear a bolo or get a nice half collar shirt.

Just do yourself a favor, test out the jacket when you sit down. If you look like you've grown a pair of breast when you sit down because of 'poofage', take the jacket off. 😉
