Hey all SDN members,

I am looking for your opinion on some of these summer plans! I am currently taking an accelerated EMT course at a local community college and am almost half way done with it! Upon completion, i will be taking the national registry to get licensed. I will have about 2 more months or so to do something else with my summer and was curious to know what you guys think would be beneficial. I may be able to shadow a few doctors for that last bit of time, i also volunteer so i will continue doing that! I am open to anything! Thank you guys

Shadowing is a good idea. I would find a volunteer organization that works with the under-served and get involved with that. Research is another option.

You could study ahead for next semester (a desperate option). You could also review old material for the MCAT (I did this the past few summers and it paid off as I somewhat retained the info I had learned and it made MCAT prep easier since I dd not have to competely start from remembering almost nothing.

Or curl up with a good book if all else fails. That is what I am doing this summer in between volunteering for Vacation Bible School and taking a mission trip to Chile. Read some good medical biographies. I just got done reading about Wilfred Grenfell and Klaus Dieter John, both who are awesome medical missionaries.

Haha i may try and find a volunteering thing for a kids camp or something! I plan on using all of next summer to study for MCAT as i am only entering my second year. I also will probably work as EMT next summer as well, but shadowing is a good option if the physician ever gets back to me -_-. Thank you!
