Hello,

My name is Nick and I am new here. I found this site while searching for something (cant remember what it was) and immediately became hooked. Anyways, to get on subject. I have read some posts about people applying to schools in the summer. What gives? I thought schools dident start taking applications untill it was closer to december. If anyone can educate me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

PharmCas opens in July for the fall 2007 cycle. Some schools do have rolling admissions or early admissions, and for those schools it is open to apply early.

Most schools applications aren't due until november or later. But generally its better to get them done early. You'll want to start working on pharmCAS over the summer since it takes a while.

Thanks for the Information. Should I start asking for letters of Reccomendation yet or wait until later?

It doesn't hurt to figure out who your going to ask. But you'll have to wait till pharmcas opens to have them start working on the letters. The rec letters are done electronically now.

get your pharmcas done ASAP...it can only help you to get it done sooner rather than later...but put a lot of thought into what you put in your profile, dont rush and do a half assed job

So I can start my pharmcas of the summer but it's not open yet? I havent really looked at the pharcas website or what the pharmcas completely entails. Thanks for the great information though 😀

So does that mean if you are appyling to enter Pharm. school in fall of 2007 you can apply in July? Sorry, I just need clarification. But I don't really see the point. The won't even have you PCAT scores or anything.

The earlier you apply, the better. Although they may not have your PCAT score, at least you can make sure they have everything else. That way, when they recieve your PCAT you'll know they have everything.

Before I applied, I was only paying attention to the school deadlines. I thought, "This school's deadline is the end of January, so as long as I get it in before then I'm fine." But a lot of the schools are on rolling admissions, meaning they begin interviewing and accepting applicants well before all of their applications are in. Many schools begin interviewing in November or December, despite the fact that many application deadlines are as late as January or February.

I do remember that some schools have an early admission option where the school will let you know by November if you got accepted. Not all schools have this and I don't remember all the details, but I remember reading about it on PharmCAS. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
