Summer b/t MS1 & MS2

I am wondering if there is anything I can during the summer b/t 1st and 2nd year to enhance my application for residency. Research, EMT cert, shadowing time, sleep, etc.. Travelling is not an option as I must stay close to home. I am thinking about this early in case I pursue research I can secure something in a reasonable time frame.

I'd say research between your first and second year is a good idea. although not necessary for most specialties, it helps diversify your application and really looks good if you get published.

On the other hand, at USF the break between first and second year was the last break we had until interview months fourth year. A lot of people I know spent there time on a barstool with a pint of guinness. 👍

Don't research, and if you're going to work do something fun. It's one of your last periods of excusable slackitude. Don't waste it.
