Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum (though I have been a long-time stalker), but I was curious to know what people's plans were the summer before entering pharm school.

I've been contemplating on either getting an internship (not as a pharm intern though because CA's laws don't grant licenses until we've begun pharm school, I believe), traveling, or volunteering.

I hate being idle, but at the same time, I know once pharm school starts up, they will own me.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Why dont u travel....its what I hear from most people, cause once it starts forget about anything

I'm hoping to go to Italy or Japan.. maybe both. 😀 Or Colombia. Enjoy your freedom while you can.

I have a trip planned for DC, Texas, Vegas and possibly a criuse!! i plan to max out working for three weeks starting May and travel the 4th week. I am going to enjoy every moment of it becos it will be the last for many many moons!!!!

I'm still working through most of the summer but I plan on quitting work a month before school starts to have "me time." I'm also travelling a lot (Disney, cruise, Key West, maybe Vegas, who knows) and trying to get outside and be active as much as possible.

Hanging out with my family at the pool, going to the beach, working a little at the pharmacy, and trying to learn a little biochemistry. I also second the travel thing - I am hoping to go several places, and it is so much harder to travel once you are out of school and have a real job!

Also, I had someone suggest to me that I get all the paperwork together for my intern license (GA is like CA - can't get it until school actually starts) so I could send it in quickly before the semester got busy.

I have to continue working for as long as possible, so I will be there until Aug 1st then take the next two weeks off to do last minute prep and bore myself around the house until I cant wait to be busy in school again. My husband starts nursing school in June, so traveling anywhere but for a weekend is out. I'll continue volunteering at the clinic, and start learning a little biochem and probably the top 200 drugs or something.

I'll be getting my hurricane kit ready....I hate to think about this.

I'll be tipping off some ETOH as much as possible and working till the end of June.

If I'm accepted (my mailman and I are on a first name basis now)...

I'm going to go to summer school and take 10 hours of Spanish purely for fun. I'm not going to worry about the grades, I just want to learn Spanish and have fun with it.

I also hope to go back to NL for a few weeks.

If...

If not...

I'm back in summer school to further work towards my BS in human biology, minor in chemistry. Please god, no!

Hahahah...I agree!!!!

For those of you who plan to travel, where are you finding the money?? I'm so scared of being broke once I start pharm school (if I'm accepted--biting nails--) that I'm saving every penny!

Working, working, working. I've got a goal of $2000 to have saved up before August.

Fiance and I are doing a cheap and short camping trip to Wisconsin.

Beginning of August we are moving into our new home and I will be doing some serious "nesting" before classes start.

I am SO looking forward to having no classes for this first time in three years.

Chris

spending every day i can soaking up rays on santa monica beach...

Japan!!! For only one week though, then maybe a summer job, cleaning out papers, and drawing. No more classes until Fall. =)

any ideas where I should go to ...how to pay for it?

Are there any travelling groups out there....none of my friends & family can travel during this summer (no money), but I really need to enjoy my freedom before pharm school begins!!!!!

I want to go to Europe, which can be so expensive. Any ideas?

Check into summer abroad programs. I did one last summer and it was a blast. You'll meet people there so theres no need to try and talk your friends from home into going. In fact I'd suggest that you go without them. It will allow you to meet more people and such. I used ISA, but there are a number of other good companies out there.

All that way for only a week?

Limited by current budget and scheduling with friends. It's extended to 12 days now though. Still very much excited as this is the first time. Maybe longer next time. 😀

i'm planning to travel to either japan/taiwan or new zealand, but first gotta save up some money =]
