Summer between M1 and M2

Hi everyone. Idk what I want to do specialty wise. I attend a good medical school that has great research opportunities for summer between M1 and M2... butttt I do not want to stay here for the summer (I went here for undergrad AND I was born and raised here lol). Anyone have any research programs they recommend I apply to? I really want to relocate for the summer!!

My vote would be somewhere with a nice beach, good surf, and uncrowded lineup.

Plenty of time for research later especially if you haven’t even settled on a field yet. Half of the value of research as a student comes from the connections you make in your desired field.

If you’re strongly leaning toward a hyper competitive field or two then you can strategize a bit more. Many people who come to such a field later will simply take a research year between m3 and m4. Others are able to get enough pubs cooking during m2/3. Really just depends on when exactly you decide, how many opportunities are open to you, and how hard you’re able to work while keeping up with everything else.

But seriously, if you’re wide open and go to a good school already, hit the beach and don’t look back.
