Ok guys, so time has come for me to start registering for my summer classes. I am a freshmen and I am taking bio1 this semester along with english composition and a few other classes.

This is what I am thinking about taking during the summer:

Pre-calc trig - 5 credits
Chemistry 1 - 4 credits
Bio 2 - 4 credits
Med Terminology - 3 credits
^^Heard this class really helps specially before actually taking anatomy/physiology.
What do you guys think of this schedule? Should I take 2 pre-req during the summer? Any of you have any bad experiences with 2 lab classes during the summer? I really want to finish both bio and chem by the end of this year.
Should I leave one of these lab science classes for next semester and finish eng composition 2 during the summer?

Tell me what you guys think, any comments will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks 😛

looks like a pretty large course load? your only a freshmen? take it easy?

you should try to maintain a high gpa instead of trying to take as many classes as possible. unless you are confident you can pull off As.

is there a reason why you want to take so many classes? are you trying to apply to dental school your sophmore year and graduate in 3?

i say dont take pre-reqs over summer? you want to take it over the normal school year so you can learn more? chem and bio will be covered on the dat so you want to make sure you learn the material thoroughly? instead of rushing though the class over summer.

Yeah... you are a going into your first year. TRUST ME... just take it easy. You want to keep the GPA as high as possible and you also want to keep the least amount of W's off your transcripts. I would think you should take Bio and Chem in the regular semesters as opposed to summer. Pre-calc and Med Term should be okay. If you insist on taking more classes for the summer then add on English and another graduation requirement. Give the sciences courses a full semester for now or at least until you get acclimated into the College life and understand the how it all works.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Well, I just wanted to finish bio and chem by the end of this year so I could start with orgo and cell bio by next spring. VCU's freshmen schedule has bio1-2 and chem 1-2, just sucks that I didn't take chem my first semester along with bio1. (btw, i started this semester)
I could take chem1 and pre-calc during summer and finish bio2 and chem2 on the fall, is that a good move? or should I take bio2 during summer since I am finishing bio1 now?
As far as grades goes, I am having no problems keeping up with my classes, I have all A's so far.
ummjoey, I am trying to graduate in my 3rd year, but if I don't, thats ok. Like I said, so far I am not having any problems, but well see how it goes. 😛

Your drive and work ethic is commendable. But if you work too much now, some of the best years of your life will have disappeared without you even noticing.
