Dear Student Pharmacist:

Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes of a community pharmacy?
How decisions are made that impact thousands of pharmacies nationwide?
The Walgreens Summer Corporate Pharmacy Internship Program is a great
way to find out.

Description
The Walgreens Pharmacy Corporate Internship Program is a great
opportunity for student pharmacists to enhance their educational
experience with a corporate perspective of community pharmacy. A
select group of students will spend 12 learning-packed weeks from May
17 to August 6, 2010 at the Walgreens corporate headquarters, located
in Deerfield, Illinois, just north of Chicago. The internship is a
full-time program available to student pharmacists entering their
third or fourth professional year of pharmacy school (graduating in
2011 or 2012), offering both a competitive salary and housing.
Transportation is the intern's responsibility.

Department Rotations
The 12-week program will be spent doing four-week rotations in three
different areas throughout the corporate office.

Information Sessions
Various presentations are offered featuring managers from across
Walgreens broad corporate base. Presentations expose you to the
workings of a successful company and the objectives and projects of
different business units. These presentations provide insight into the
personal career progression and current responsibilities of individual
managers.

Fun
Social events are scheduled throughout the summer, where you can get
to know other interns throughout our corporate headquarters.

If you are a student pharmacist graduating in 2011 or 2012, are

I know a guy that did it and he really liked it. He went to AZ and it was free housing and a nice salary.

i wanted to apply for this summer corporate rotation,
though as i understand it ur not suppose to get paid?
how is WAGs offering salary to 4th yr students doing
rotations with them?

It's b/c this is an internship, not a clerkship or externship. You won't get any school credit for it. Don't be confused by their use of the word "rotation."

lol. thanks. its odd that they choose a word sosoo
misleading. i almost wasted hours applying. .^_
thanks for the response! 4th yr students dont have
time to do these things.

I also received this email, which is odd, because I'm not graduating until 2013. Maybe its because I've applied to Wags before, so they just happened to have my email on file as a student. If I was eligible, I'd definitely give it a shot, seems interesting.

I had a friend that did the CVS one in the Hamptons and loved it. Lots of good networking and experience.

I probably met your friend... although I dont want to disclose who I am.

Hi,

Can anyone give me an insight into what is corporate pharmacy?

What is the role of a Pharm D student in the corporate field?

The big question - what are the 3 different areas in the field of corporate pharmacy?

Thank you
