hi!🙂
i have a question about summer program.
i am applying this year so if i were to participate in summer dental program, such as SMDEP, then this summer is my last chance.
Also, i would have to work on my application during this summer.
so i was just wondering if it is worth it to do summer program.
would it be better for me to spend my summer for studying dat, shadowing, working on application????????
ANY SUGGESTION?😕
thanks for ur help!

Which cycle are you going to apply? If you're going to apply for Cycle 2008, I think it's too late to work on your application in summer. I suggest you should prepare your application by May and then submit it once it release on web.

I disagree. I think doing a summer program can be very helpful because you can list in the extracurriculars that you plan to take the summer dental program. This could also be a talking point at an interview that might help you stand out.

My only concern is that you said should I take a summer program or study for the DAT. I think that you need to finish your DAT before you go into a summer program. You DAT scores being promptly submitted with your application so that the schools don't have to wait on them is more important, in my opinion. Also you mentioned shadowing. I think that you need to make sure you have minimal shadowing and other stuff done by the time you complete and submit your application too.

If you're interested in attending a summer intro to dentistry program, you might want to check the current availability of seats in each program. I was informed last night that Penn's summer dental program is full.
