Hi, first year student here interested in PM&R. I was wondering if there are any summer programs out there where I can explore my interest in PM&R besides the program at Northwestern RIC? Chicago's a bit far for me since I live in the metro NY area. The AAPMR site suggested being a summer counselor at a summer camp for children with disabilities. Do you guys feel that that's a good way for one to get their foot in the PM&R door, so to speak? Thanks!

I think that this is a great way to learn about PM&R. I wish I did this back in the day too.

This is one that I've heard about Camp CAMP (Children's Association for Maximum Potential)

wow, these both look great. will definitely try to do one of them during my summer off. thanks.

This isn't a camp like others have posted but it was founded by a pediatric physiatrist I know and is in NJ. It might be something more fun to do even if attending to learn more about the conditions and how to address those unique factors which can lead to problem solving which can always be of help in whatever you choose to do.

I met the founder Dr. Cheng when he was a fellow and I was a medical student and he was always willing to teach if you are willing to learn and ask questions. I just hope that he still has time to run these sessions but its been a couple years since I saw him. Anyway it might be something to look into as well.

This is awesome! Thanks for sharing.

Is there some kind of interview process for the RIC summer program? Anyone know?

I believe it's your application and essay only.
