Hey all!

Glad to finally join SDN.

I have quite the dilemma: I don't know what I should do for this summer. I have two options:
  • Intern at my Dad's Pharmaceutical Drug Discovery Company
    • Relatively smaller company, and I don't know what type of lab I would be placed in.
    • 10 Week Research Project
    • Pros: I would be comfortable at home.
    • Pros: Gain some industry experience and more research skills.
    • Cons: I don't know if I would be able to get volunteering done (local hospitals have not replied to me yet)
  • TA for a High School Research Program
    • So I did this last year, and it was quite fun. For the first month, I trial run experiments, and then next month, serve as a TA for the high schoolers.
    • Pros: I would be at my University, and volunteering at hospitals would be easy.
    • Pros: Leadership Rec Letter would be good as although the program leader is different this time, she saw me as a TA for last year.
    • Pros: I would be in a higher leadership position, as I would also mentor the new TAs.
    • Cons: Would have to figure out and pay for housing arrangements.
Just a little bit about me: my current goal is to become a physician with a large emphasis on research (Physician Scientist if that's what its called). I've been in a lab for a full year now, and plan on continuing research in that lab. Also, cost and money is not a huge issue.

Thanks guys!

I bet money isn't a huge issue, considering your first option lol

Well both are paid and the first option obviously has no living costs, but I meant that the amount of profit I make isn't of much concern to me.

This probably means your family is loaded lol. That's why I said that.

Both of these sound like great options, OP. Do whichever one you are more passionate about.
