Hello,
I am entering Medical School, this Fall and have the summer free. I have already finalized my housing, finished the paperwork and well, I am pretty much done. After the fifth time, watching Scrubs Rerun on Netflix, I am wondering if there are any programs that students entering medical school can do. They should hopefully start in June and end in July. Any programs that are still accepting applications, because I know typically the application for these things ends in Jan or Feb.

Why would you want to do this?

I would love to have a chance to expose myself to something new, to learn something different I guess. Till now I've been focused on my personal life (hobbies and such), now I want to focus and expand my academic and professional side. I know it's a long shot, there aren't a lot of programs that accept people during this transition period, yet, I want to try, see if I can find something. I've googled, searched through various sites and textbooks and thought someone might know something here.

Study abroad? I'd love to do it again before I matriculate

You could start studying anatomy if you wanted to. I like Amazon product ASIN 1582558566
Or you could try to start doing research in whatever field you might be interested. However, there is no reason to do research unless you might apply to something competitive....or actually have an interest in research.

Or you could do nothing.

Like ortnakas and others have said, you're about to thoroughly develop your academic and professional side. I highly recommend having as much fun as you can during this summer, because med school is about to be an all-consuming beast for the next 4 years. I know several people who studied or did other developmental stuff the summer before MS1, and they all wish they had just relaxed. Meanwhile, of all the people (myself included) I know who did absolutely nothing before MS1, we have no ragrets.
