I am not sure if this is the right forum, so forgive me if I am in the wrong spot.
I am doing currently preparing case reports for endovascular interventions of critical limb ischemia (CLI) and chronic total occlusions (CTO) for patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD). I am a little confused on the terminology describing the access that was used for the balloon angioplasty and stunting and could use a little help.
1. If it says transpedal access, does that mean the wire was inserted through the foot in order to access a more proximal artery? So transpedal access through the perineal for example would go from the pedal to the perineal?
2. Trans-collateral through the profunda, I am confused if that is retrograde or antegrade?
3. If I am discussing the different approaches for relieving CLI and CTO, any advice on pertinent information to include?
I would ask my mentor but he's currently unavailable so any help would be appreciated.
