summer research statements

What are they looking for in the goals/personal statements for summer research programs? Most programs want a page, single spaced.

Also, would your AMCAS calculated overall, major & science/math gpa (I used the excel spreadsheet that was posted on here earlier to do it) be the right one to submit? Just asking b/c my school doesn't separately calculate math/science & major, which I'm guessing would be only core classes...it only calculates overall.

NASA, Mayo Clinic, St. Judes, Pepperdine, few others

Your PS for these should tell something about you - where you've come from, your developing interests, and where you hope to hope to wind up. You want to come off as an interesting person who would benefit the program and be benefited by it.

Also important to state why research? what research you may have done previously and for how long. What have you learned from it? I'm also on the same boat applying to: JHU, Harvard, Yale, MIT and a fre others (minority programs).
