It's that time of year again! 😀 Who's been accepted/rejected/waitlisted where?

(I know there's already a thread on here for AMGEN and a few other specific programs...I just thought I'd make one more general. SDN has been a great help as I've reviewed posts for information about summer research).

i haven't heard back from anywhere yet; i applied to march-closing programs.. decisions should come first 2 weeks of april, though.

Thanks 🙂 wow you applied to a lot! I wish I applied to as many! (but I'm a freshman so I was ineligible for many... Definitely applying to at least 15 next year!!)

Many possible reasons, but a common one is that there is no research of the appropriate kind at the home institution (or, in the case of community colleges, no research at all).

some programs have perks, like conference trips or the chance to present your work, special lectures, preprof workshops, shadowing, etc.

also some schools like washu openly state that attending their summer programs will help/count towards admission at their school, given you do well of course. the rec letters you get could be really influential..

and some people do these programs for a chance to spend a few months in a new city, meet people from across the country, etc.

and yes the stipends are usually pretty sweet

no, i didn't see it anywhere; the assistant dean of admissions (dr chung) told me this.


i think i may have gotten my first decision (rejection) today.. 🙁

I'd rather do it at UCLA Amgen since that program seems more selective and you'd be working with the school of medicine.
