Hi everyone,
My name is Daniel and this June I'll start PT program at SUNY Downstate so I thought it would be a good idea to create a thread for all new PT students of class 2011. Please write down all your experiences regarding financial aid, health insurance, anything you think is important before we start program. This week is should receive application package from SD so I don't know all the details.
Congratulation for everyone who got accepted and see you soon at SD

Congrats Daniel. Im not accepted to the program yet but I eventually will, this year or next year, SD is my first school. So, would you mind if I ask you how your application looked like?? (GPA, GRE, and degree stuff) I need to know what I have to improve in order to get accepted.

Hi ussoccer07x ,That's great. Did you send all papers required regarding medical history and vaccination? I'm about to do it today.I have a question.I have applied for FAFSA before March 1st (deadline) and waiting for SD to reply.Did you receive any information regarding your financial aid?

Just wanted to point out the deadline for FAFSA is May 1st, not March 1st (I completed it just last week.) They typically get back to everyone by the middle/end of June about any aid they receive.

I have my vaccinations complete, just need to go get my physical before i can send my forms in. I was surprised at how much they are requiring for health clearance. I also talked to the financial aid office today and they will be mailing out award letters in the next 2-3 weeks.

Today I dropped off my vaccination and physical form to SUNY and hopefully that will clear my medical status.I also called Financial Aid office and one lady said that I should receive letter from them by the end of the month or in the beginning of April.

I am interested to hear from any current students. I would love any input on the program, teachers, coursework, etc. If you feel more comfortable sending me a PM, that is fine. Thanks!!!

I currently have a 3.49 cumulative and probably around a 3.0-3.15 science GPA however. The school I transferred from I have 3 W's and 2 Fails. Its not all in the same semester its spread out throughout 4 semesters but I had a friend that passed away when i go to college and that is why my grades sucked. But once I transferred my grades got up there and I even made deans list one semester. I also studied a year abroad as an EMT in Israel where I was on an intensive care ambulance and went to several terrorist attacks. Not to mention I have been working in physical therapy since high school.

I havent taken GRE and Physics 1 and 2

what should my letter pf recommendations, I good friend of mine is already an established physical therapist with his own place

But what do you think?
