Hey, so since SUNY Downstate categorical didn't fill, I'm pretty much 100% sure I matched in NYC since I ranked them 3rd. 😍

Does anyone remember what their internship year consisted of and if there was any choice in the rotations? I remember it being a mix of surgery and medicine but for some reason I didn't take notes on that part...

Does anyone also know if programs have separate advanced and categorical lists meaning that maybe they could have only listed me on the advanced list in which case I may have matched below this rank?

Unless they thought I was a psychopath, and didn't rank me at all 🙂.

Wow, today is a good day too bad I have tests all day tomorrow to study for... I'll have to wait on the where do I live questions until Thursday 😎.

I put them #1 for categorical and #2 for advanced and since it said I matched with those unfilled spots, I am hoping I got it too.

I think I heard them say you do 3 months of general med. and 3 months of general surge... not sure about the other months....

Be careful about making assumptions based on open spots. Some places don't fill because they didn't rank enough of the people they interview. Hopefully you get what you want, but don't go looking for places to live just yet.

True. While I hold hope, I am waiting for the official word on NRMP. But I already live in Brooklyn so there is no move for me...🙂... Thursday couldn't come sooner.

Haha, I know it is not for sure. It's just that my interviewers were very positive and said my chances were excellent and they did email me twice after... and they included the numbers for both categorical and advanced in the second email. I did hear back from my second choice too, so who knows. NYU was silent, but I'm still hoping for them.

Also, the cushy prelims were a stretch for me so I figure since I didn't have to scramble I was more likely in a categorical spot.

Yeah I seem to remember a comment about the intern year being very rough... so if you know anything about the other 5 months let me know. All I put in my notes was "transitional year but not cushy." If I get it I am hoping I can at least do a month of cards and pulm... I really need those.

I'm stoked though!
