Dr. Johnson is kind of the main interviewer for SUNY. He's the one that travels around to schools, so that they wouldn't have to fly out to NY. He's coming to my school soon (though I won't be interviewing until next year). I think he'll be hitting all the UC's so he'll probably interview you too, Dr4eyes. Oh, and FYI, I heard SUNY likes the UC's for some reason, so you kinda have a slight head start (check out their state demographics).
I don't know much about him yet, but I do know he likes questions addressed to him (I know a SUNY graduate who personally knows him). If anything, you should at least ask about the new dorms that SUNY is getting...opening 2008 I believe. They also added new exam lanes, so you can ask about how that came about. He'll be straight forward and ask you why optometry, and why NY.
Also, if you could throw in some interest in their programs (after a little research), that would help too. For example, they have a club called SVOSH that goes around to under-developed countries that allows you volunteer there for a week or so (skipping class). You can ask about their events...like I know they had a male auction a couple years back (haha, due to their male/female ratio) that went towards charity.
He likes honesty, so if you don't know something, be honest about it, don't bs. Finally (minor detail, but my friend told me about it so it MIGHT have come from Dr.J), having loose change or keys in your pocket (anything that makes noise), can be seen as unprofessional, and he'll judge you on that. Haha, I make it sound like he's super anal, but in general, I've heard he's a friendly guy. Hope that helps.
