I can't find much information about interviews on SUNY website and they don't send much information by mail either..
What should I expect at SUNY interview?
I heard that I am supposed to bring a photo of me.. is that true?
If so, what size? just any pictures??

My SUNY interview was really not that bad at all. Yes, there is an essay. I don't remember what it was about, which probably means it wasn't anything to stress about. The purpose of some of the schools having you write essays at the interview is to ensure that it was actually you who wrote your personal statement (from what I've heard anyway).

I was interviewed by a panel of three professors. They were quite nice. There were a couple questions I'm sure I stumbled on, but overall I had the feeling that they were understanding.

General Tips:

• I made sure to mention the fact that I DO NOT believe optometry is a perfect profession, but that I believe it will be a perfect fit for me. (I believe they want realistic students, not ones that are under the impression that everything is rainbows and sunshine)
• I think its important to convey the research you've done about the profession and the school during the interview.
• When they ask you specific questions, make sure you give the most specific answer possible.
• SMILE, BE POLITE, DO NOT INTERRUPT (yes, these seem obvious, but when people are nervous they tend to forget the basics)

Seriously, just be yourself. I know that's what everyone says, but its the best form of advice I can offer.

About the photo, yes, they do want a photograph for your file. I didn't realize this until I was on my way to NYC, so I just snapped one outside of the school, had it printed at Kinkos and turned it in. I don't think they're looking for a modeling headshot, just one that looks like you (without inappropriate things in the photo). They also ask for your most recent transcript.

For those of you who interviewed at SUNY..

What time did the day end?
I am supposed to get on a bus to Philadelphia at 2:15pm.
Do you think I can make it to Penn Station by then after the interview?
Or.. I need to change my reservation..

You should be done around 1:30. I would think 45 minutes would be enough to get to Penn Station.
