SUNY & UCB questions

I just sent off my online application to SUNY on 01 October 2007. Transcripts & letters will be mailed very soon, and the OAT has been taken. Can I hear back from SUNY to set up an interview before they recieve my transcripts and letters of recommendation or do they need to have all my information before they make a decision. I am also assuming that the strength of ones application affects how long it takes to hear back from the school?

Also, UCB does not have rolling admissions right? So does it make a difference if I send in my online application now or in a month? Within a month I may have a good extracurricular job to add to my application. I think on their website it says that they send out invitations for interviews in December...for an interview in January.

Suny or any other school is definitely going to need your transcripts before they offer you an interview.

I've read of cases here where people received interviews w/o their LORs or OAT scores.

You're right UCB does not have rolling admissions so you have no advantage to apply early. Although I wouldn't wait until the very last minute unless it was absolutely necessary for you. If you think you can get in some good extracurriculars by then by all means wait and beef up your application first

hey - i got asked for an interview at SUNY and in the letter they requested that i bring a student copy of my transcript. however when i went for the interview i asked them if they wanted it but they said no they got it. so i have a feeling that they hadnt received it when they invited me for the interview, but that it came afterwards (my school was annoying and it took a while for it to get sent out).
i dont know if this is right but you do write down your gpa and what you got in all your sciences on the app so maybe they use that as a starting point.

SUNY also told me in the interview letter to bring a transcript with me to my interview, but I had already sent one well in advance. I think maybe they just want an updated copy in case anything changed/you took more classes. So, I do believe they wait to receive your transcipt.
