So I received a letter via snail mail today from SUNY Upstate saying that my application is on HOLD. I suppose that'll ultimately mean a rejection later down the line? Does anyone have an inkling of the chances of an interview/acceptance if one is initially placed on hold, and what being on hold truly means?

Many thanks for all of your support! 🙂

what were your stats and are you a NY resident?

I posted the same thing awhile ago... you can run a search.

Basically, I'm Mr. Brightside, and I think of it as "Good, they didn't reject me, still got a chance 👍 "

however, on my more pessimestic days, its more like "they didn't reject me....yet"

I got the same letter last year. Got an interview a few weeks later, got accepted. I'm not a New York resident.

Does anyone here know if people have been rejected outright from Upstate at this point or are they only giving out "holds" and interviews?

Yeah I am wondering the same thing. Does "hold" have any significance or is it simply sent out to potential rejects and potential interviewees as well...or is this just a way for med schools to pull your strings and get their jollies?

PM Upstateadmiss. She's from the admissions office of upstate medical and is fielding any and all questions pertaining to upstate.

Ask her whats up with your application and she should be able to give you the "no bs" version....hopefully.

Good Luck
