Anybody received the "on hold" letter from upstate?

Please post information about chances of getting interviews later on or how the system works with the hold people...for example, every applicated not invited gets on hold? or a select amount of people get put on hold?

No one should have received a "on hold" letter from them yet. They said they do not send out any notices until October 15th. For all those who have interviewed there already, they will be sending out letters to those people on 10/15. They said they have 4 categories... 1) Accepted 2) Priority Hold 3) Hold 4) Denied

The difference in priority hold vs hold is that they will not take anyone from the hold list until all the priority hold students are accepted, and the priority hold list will not be tapped unless the accepted list does not fill them up. They said they always take some students from the priority hold list each year, but typically they never get to the hold people at all.

I think s/he meant hold FOR an interview. Not a decision AFTER one.

OP, a thread has already been started about this that quoted stats and such about previous applicants held for interviews. Do a search for it and see what you can come up with.

From what i've heard, being put on hold is like a kiss of death from upstate. I don't know if thats true, its just what i've read on the forums. Good luck!

I got put on hold for Upstate a while ago also. I basically crossed them off the list after that....am not really holding my breath for an 'oh we decided to interview you after all!' letter.

I think I need to clarify - We have two versions of HOLD - Hold before Interview for additional evaluation, which this student sounds like they received and HOLD by Committee for those interviewed and placed on our Hold Alternate List. The second letters will not be sent out until after 10/15.
