Hi All,
I have recently interviewed in SUNY Upstate for Psychiatry. And i'm expecting positive response. But still I want to know whether I should go for it or wait for other calls. Please help me.

I would Advise you to wait for other call because I have heard that LCME is taking the accreditation back from this medical school from Feb 2012.

I don't get the question...you already interviewed. So what is there to "go for"? Rank? I think the program is solid if you can deal w/ Syracuse. I loved it, but ended up somewhere else.

Probably wondering if he should accept a pre-match from them.

I agree with your thoughts on Syracuse. Good program, should be fine if you don't mind living in Syracuse.

I agree with DrJames here. I have heard these facts about the program too. Got to know that [FONT='times new roman', 'new york', times, serif]SUNY president fired Chairman of Psychiatry Dr. Dewan, There must be something wrong about this program mate.
.

Am I the only one that is finding it mildly suspicious that the two posters who have made claims about SUNY's accreditation only have one or two posts (and all are about SUNY) and the same awful grammar?

And, just to throw it out there, Upstate is still listed as an accredited program.

From that article, it sounds like the accreditation concerns are about that cheating scandal that happened during some class in the med school and some curriculum structure discrepancies. That has nothing to do with the psychiatry residency.
Dr. Dewan being removed as chair is a much more relevant concern to the psychiatry residency. I met Dr. Dewan when I interviewed there and thought he seemed like someone who would be excellent to work with, in line with a lot of those comments on the article in defense of him, and it did sound like he was a big part of setting the tone of the department's culture. If the new chair isn't on the level of Dewan, that IS a loss to the department. It also raises some questions about what is going on behind the scenes in the upper levels of administration. If I had interviewed at that program this year, I'd certainly try to find out more about how this has affected the department.
